DEDICATION
==========
This freeware version of the TIMEFLYS program is dedicated to
the memory of those men of the North and South who battled at
Gettysburg in July of 1863. Their extraordinary valor and
sacrifice remind us of the greatness upon which this country
was built.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM - Very simple design but sophisticated
================= ------------------------------------
TIMEFLYS is a program which tracks and reminds you of
US holidays as well as other national observances including
St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Daylight Savings Time start/end,
Fathers/Mothers Day, and the start of seasons.
The reminders "pop up" on your screen 11, 4, and 1 day(s)
before a holiday or observance, as well as on the day itself.
The power of TIMEFLYS lies in the fact that it automatically
calculates the dates for "fixed day" holidays (i.e. those that
fall on the same *day* every year) as well as Easter (which is
based on the moon's cycle).
TIMEFLYS is NOT a TSR program so there are no memory issues to
be concerned about, but your system date must be set correctly.
A Canadian version of this program is also in release. It gives
reminders of Canadian holidays in addition to US holidays.
USING THE PROGRAM
=================
This program is 21st-Century-ready and is Windows-compatible.
Simply entering TIMEFLYS at the DOS prompt will produce a screen
which gives a brief description of the program and the command-line
parameter to have it check for events, which is:
TIMEFLYS /C This will cause TIMEFLYS to Check for upcoming
events. This essentially "runs" the program the
way it will normally be used.
NOTE: The INSTALL program will give you the option of
automatically adding the TIMEFLYS/C line to your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file, which will result in the program
automatically checking for upcoming holidays each
time you turn your computer on.

THE v2.0 UPGRADE - "Set it and forget it" software
================ -------------------------------
The 2.0 version of the TIMEFLYS program allows you to enter
your own annual events, such as birthdays or anniversaries, or
other recurring annual special occasions, or any one-time occasion
or appointment that you can't afford to miss.
The number of the event is also given if the user enters the
first year of the event. For example, if the year is entered
with a birthdate, the person's upcoming age will be displayed
with the reminder. This feature is also useful for anniversaries.
Easy to use menus and prompts guide you through adding, changing,
and deleting events. There is also a menu selection for printing a
list of events.
ALL FOR ONLY $ 8.00 !!!
There is also a Canadian version available which gives reminders
of Canadian holidays in addition to the US holidays.
NOTE: Custom-programmed editions for business or government,
with unique "fixed day" events or custom data files,
are also available.

Here are a few other shareware and freeware offerings available
from numerous on-line sources (see below):
EZY-D A command-line dialer that uses your modem to dial
telephone or digital pager calls. The telephone
number(s) are passed to the program as command-line
parameters which means it can be use to set up menu
items such as "Page Ralph" or "Call Norton", or used
in batch files to place unattended pager calls in
response to system or application events (ex: when a
virus is detected during an unattended virus check).
It sends the number to be displayed on the pager after
a brief delay (which can be overridden with a parameter)
and terminates automatically. It features auto-modem-
locate and optional user prompting for either or both
phone numbers. Distributed as fully functional shareware.
Registration fee is $8.
WEZY-D The Windows version of EZY-D, this program allows you to
page or call someone just by double-clicking on their icon.
It can be set to "Run Minimized" so you can immediately
return to work while the call is being placed. Distributed
as fully-functional shareware. Registration fee is $8.
COMDOG A utility which sniffs out modems hooked to, or configured as,
PC COM ports. The modem port numbers are then displayed on
the screen. Distributed as Freeware.
AUTOHB A colorful, musical, birthday greeting that displays a
birthday cake while playing the "Happy Birthday" song through
the PC speaker and displaying the lyrics in various colors.
The birthday person's name is passed to the program (for
display in the lyrics) through the DOS environment, which is
entered using the DOS SET command. It will also check for an
optional birthdate in the environment and only run if it
matches the current date. Useful in Novell networked
environments by using the DOS SET login script command.
Source code included. Distributed as Freeware.
These program will all be available on line by the end of January,
1995. (Most are available now, depending on the service). They
are submitted to CompuServe, America On-Line, and the SimTel Coast-
to-Coast Repository. SimTel has "mirror sites" around the world on
the Internet, accessible via ftp. Their primary mirror site is
oak.oakland.edu.
